Bitcoin and Ether are leading the cryptocurrency markets from the front, but the risk of a short-term pullback remains. News of BlackRock registering the iShares Ethereum Trust increased expectations that the asset manager may eventually apply for an Ether (ETH) spot exchange-traded fund. This is a positive sign as it shows that BlackRock’s cryptocurrency aspirations are not limited to Bitcoin (BTC). Market observers are increasingly optimistic that spot Bitcoin ETFs will be greenlighted by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in 2024. Bloomberg Intelligence research analyst James Seyffart said on X (formerly Twitter) that there is still a 90% possibility that the regulator will approve a spot Bitcoin ETF by Jan. 10 of the next year. Bitcoin bonanza or bust? NVT surge stirs mania fears

The network value to transactions (NVT) ratio for Bitcoin has reached its highest level in five years, hitting 1,779.542 on Oct. 31st, according to data from Glassnode. The NVT ratio is used to evaluate whether Bitcoin is overvalued or undervalued. The NVT ratio works similarly to the price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio used in stock markets. A high NVT ratio indicates that Bitcoin’s market valuation is exceeding the value transmitted through its payment network. This can happen when Bitcoin is experiencing high growth and investors are valuing it as a high return investment, or if prices are in an unsustainable bubble. Bitcoin’s market capitalization is currently divided by the daily volume transmitted through the blockchain to calculate the NVT ratio. The higher the ratio, the more overvalued Bitcoin may be based on its transaction activity. A technical analysis tool called Bollinger Bands uses price volatility to provide probable entry and exit opportunities in trading. They are made up of two outer bands or lines and a centerline (the simple moving average for a 20-day period), which enlarges and contracts in response to changes in price. 97.5% of New Bitcoin Investors Are at a Loss

Image
A significant chunk of short-term Bitcoin holders are currently underwater. In fact, the current proportion of holders with losses is at its highest level since FTX collapsed. A recent Analysis report by Glassnode brought to light, “Since selling off below $26k in recent weeks, more than 97.5% of STH supply is now held at a loss.” Even though this statistic is far from appealing, there is a silver lining to it. During bear markets, whenever more than 97.5% of the short-term holders are at a loss, the chance of seller exhaustion increases rapidly. This means the current conditions do not provide any incentive to holders to exit the market. TON, XLM, XMR, and MKR could attract buyers if Bitcoin rises above $26,500

Image
Bitcoin price has flatlined, but TON, XLM, XMR and MKR are showing signs of bullish momentum. Bitcoin (BTC) traded in a narrow range this week and is on target to form the third consecutive Doji candlestick pattern on the weekly chart. The cryptocurrency markets did not receive any support from the United States equities markets, which ended the week on a negative note. The S&P 500 Index dropped 1.3% while the Nasdaq closed down 1.9%.  Bitcoin’s weakness has dragged several altcoins lower, with many testing multi-week lows. This indicates that the broader crypto market is in a firm bear grip. Negative markets make it difficult for buyers to identify short-term bullish trades as rallies hardly sustain. However, it could be a good time for long-term investors to build a portfolio. Crypto market data daily view.
